My initial sewn collages came from a need to make things without a studio. I needed a clean process for putting collage together in my home. I didn’t want to use glue and so the practice of sewn collage came about. I fell in love with what could happen with the sewing machine.

Also developing at the time came the interest from personal experience about the random and changing nature of ego and personality. So the pieces were thrown together quickly and roughly, no conscious awareness or plan. 

These pieces went through many changes.
